I used to buy it when banks offer lower interest rates on savings deposits. But as banks have increased higher interest rates I have fully redeemed my SSBs. I think SSBs is a great investment for people who want to diversify their portfolio. It has greater liquidity than fixed deposits and you can redeem all your holdings anytime within 1 month.

The rates are much better than bank interest plus is risk free. The rate you get is confirm for 10 years. Good for those who have saving and do not need it for few years. Even you keep for few months also have a bit of interest. Make your money work harder for you :)

    Why I bought?
    - Sell what u purchased as and when you preferred.
    - Better Rate as compared to Deposit offered by the bank.
    - No lock-in period as compared to FD (Fixed Deposit)
    - Required a min of $500 to start investing
    - Usage of SRS (Supplementary Retirement Scheme) to purchase.

Yes. SSB is low risk and provides consistent returns over 10 years. Highly recommend others to consider it.

I think this type of bond can earn lower IRR comparing to stocks so it is not match to my risk appetite that can wait in long run to get the investment with good return back.

Yes because SSB is a alternative to CPF OA for long term investment as it pays better than 2.5 %.

No. Seems troublesome to manage and interest does not compound. I prefer something more fuss-free.

I feel it is a kind of gambling which I don’t believe in. It’s better to earn $ and save in insurance or bank.

The return from SSB is not attractive to me as compared to other investment vehicles, long term or short term. For example, I can always earn better returns in high interest rate savings account, now Tbills give better returns, returns on my other assets are higher. With current increasing interest rate environment and uncertainties, I prefer not to lockin my funds in long term SSB and miss any better opportunities during the period. Cash is still King, always better as another source of income,
